Skinny Songs Made My Day!
March 28, 2008 by JanB
Remember when I said something neat had happened? Sorry to tease you that way, but here’s what happened:
My weight loss attitude got a big boost recently. You know I reviewed Skinny Songs a couple of weeks ago. I liked them so much that I have visited their site several times and especially liked their T-shirts and ordered one last week.
I wanted to drop them an email and let them know just how much they have helped me. I love having the songs playing on my MP3 player (along with Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down”), it just reinforces everything that I try to do here with my eating and exercise. Not only that, but I can’t help but notice how much more I am moving and dancing all day to the music. That burns calories.
So, I wrote my email and got a reply from the writer of Skinny Songs, Heidi Roizen. She asked me if they could use my email on their site. I told them sure and yesterday a box came from FedEx with four cool t-shirts (one of which I am wearing above), six CD’s of Skinny Songs and a $250 gift card for Target. Wow. I wasn’t expecting this to happen.
You know, when something comes along that really works for me, such as my Nordic Track treadmill, my Reebok sneakers, Tofutti sour cream, I just incorporate it into my life. Skinny Songs are more than just words and music. It’s attitude that gets into my brain. When the song says, ” People say it’s hard to do, but I’ve been very strong”, that’s hard for me to take. I tend to put myself down. When people say, “Man, you must really have some willpower.” I tend to say, “No, it’s not that hard.” But you know what, it IS hard, damned hard. There are a lot of times every day when I have to choose to do the hard thing and not what I want to do. Lots of times. Last night Rachel had my MP3 player and was listening to Skinny Songs, she screamed out to me, “Mommy! I am downloading them into my brain!” Yeah, that’s about what I have done, too.
This morning I had to choose between oatmeal and a banana or peanut butter on a snack bar (or two). It was hard. I had the bar and the peanut butter right there. After making my choice, I feel full, I feel fine and I feel STRONG! Oh, I ate the oatmeal.
Here are this month’s progress photos, I still have work to do, but it’s working!
I want to share the CD’s that Skinny Songs sent me, so today I will pick two people from the comments to this post to get Skinny Songs. I really appreciate all of you and I am glad to be able to give something back to some of you.
